Building Maintenance Student Technician

Job Summary

The SC Building Maintenance Student Technician, under the supervision of the Student Center Building Maintenance Supervisor, will perform general maintenance duties in the Student Center facilities related to minor repairs and facility upkeep to comply with safety and overall aesthetics of the Student Center.

Duties
  • Check all exterior lights landscape lights and replace bulbs as needed.
  • Inspect all areas and complete paint touch up as needed.
  • Repair damage to walls including patching holes and painting.
  • Create and maintain a list of all paint colors used throughout the Student Center Building.
  • Install/replace hooks, hangers etc. in storage areas as needed.
  • Install/replace clear plastic outlet covers/protector as needed.
  • Repair broken Awnings.
  • Maintain equipment and facility cleanliness.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working condition and report any safety or maintenance needed in weekly shift reports.
  • Perform routine facility walk-through.
  • Enforce policies and procedures regarding safe and proper use of equipment and facility.
  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the SC Building Maintenance Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to follow directions and complete projects as assigned.
  • Basic knowledge of safe practices and willing to follow OSHA regulated procedures.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain good attendance and work cooperatively with co-workers.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled, matriculating Stanislaus student State with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Work an average of 10-15 flexible hours per week.
  • Able to work some Saturdays or Sundays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements and working conditions include; but are not limited to, frequently standing and walking; normal manual dexterity (hands and fingers) and eye-hand coordination; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; and use of custodial equipment and cleaning supplies.

Work is performed in an indoor environment and throughout the campus areas during student programs, continuous contact with other staff, students, faculty, and the public.

This position includes evening and/or weekend hours as a regular part of the work schedule based on operational needs. Specific days and hours may vary.
