Maintenance Manager
This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers and animal owners throughout the United States. Through industry‑leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.
As Maintenance Manager in our animal feed manufacturing facility, you will focus on improving maintenance processes, asset reliability and capital improvement projects. You will lead six Maintenance Technicians, collaborate with production and report directly to the Plant Manager. You will be responsible for safety and operational leadership in a 24‑hour/5‑day facility, working weekends as needed.
Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day maintenance and reliability of the plant manufacturing systems.
- Coordinate assignments and projects of all maintenance staff and support team development.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Provide guidance on troubleshooting, minimize downtime and maximize asset utilization.
- Confirm root‑cause and failure analysis on critical plant equipment.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all equipment, safety regulations, practices and procedures applicable to work centers.
- Develop and prioritize facility capital plans in collaboration with the plant manager and engineers.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies, including OSHA and EPA programs.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation on programs and equipment.
- Work from elevated heights as required and assist technicians when needed.
- Possess own hand tools for on‑site use.
- Plan, schedule and budget for the maintenance department.
- Oversee project management planning and oversight.
- High school/GED degree.
- 3+ years supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, directing industrial maintenance technicians.
- Knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, inventory and scheduling software.
- Technical computer skills:
Microsoft Office, Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. - Knowledge of E1 Catalyst and Ariba highly desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, prioritizing and attention to detail abilities.
- Ability to recruit, coach, develop, engage and retain a team.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with GMPs, Continuous Improvement (Lean Maintenance) and Sanitation & Quality Policies.
- Strong PLC and electrical knowledge preferred.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and lead others through change.
$81,200 – $121,800. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
