Pay Range $25.00-$35.00/hourly Position Summary The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, safety, and functionality of company buildings, grounds, equipment, and building systems. This role performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance, responds to facility service requests, assists with inspections and repairs, and works with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily facilities, maintenance, and building inspections to identify and address maintenance, safety, or operational issues.
  • Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment, fixtures, and building systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, work orders, and facility-related emergencies.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, doors, hardware, flooring, and general building systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and building system issues and elevate complex repairs when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and service providers as directed by Facilities management.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, inspections, preventative maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Follow established preventative maintenance schedules and assist with maintaining facility equipment and service records.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, parts, and equipment; notify management when replenishment is needed.
  • Assist with maintaining clean, safe, and orderly buildings, grounds, work spaces, and common areas.
  • Support office and resident moves, renovations, construction activities, space changes, and special facility projects.
  • Assist with inspections and compliance activities related to OSHA, fire safety, building codes, and company policies.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective action or notify management.
  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to employees, residents, visitors, and other internal or external customers.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Operations and EVS, to resolve facility-related concerns and support business operations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow all company safety procedures and practices.
  • Perform other facilities and EVS-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification, trade school, or associate's degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of facilities, maintenance, building operations, construction, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Basic ability to troubleshoot and repair common building and equipment issues.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or computerized work-order systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize work orders and respond effectively to changing facility needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate maintenance issues clearly and professionally with employees, management, vendors, and contractors.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and safe work procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend equipment manuals, maintenance instructions, safety information, and basic technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of preventative maintenance principles and building systems.
  • Ability to identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and willingness to learn new skills and systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools and perform repetitive physical tasks as required.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, wet, or noisy environments, as well as crawl spaces and other confined spaces (non-permit).
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergency call-outs based on business needs.
  • Must be safety-focused and able to maintain a safe working environment.

This is a fully on-site position (not remote).
