Custodian Job Description

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.

• Perform janitorial duties
• Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
• Handle hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at risk behavior of others and self
• Work in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain a clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages
• Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• Understand reporting systems and environmental impacts

Key requirements for this role include:

• Education and/or experience:
  No specific education required; 3‑6 months of training or experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Completed all safety and task training certification.
• Forklift certification may be required.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
• Willingness to share knowledge with team.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee must be able to sit, talk, or listen frequently. Accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Friday to Sunday, 5am – 5pm. Pay: $15.00 – $16.00 per hour.
