Title: Lodging Maintenance Technician
Location: Iron Blosam Lodge, Salt Lake City, Utah
Status: Year-Round, Full‑Time, Hourly
As a Maintenance Technician at the Iron Blosam Lodge, you will perform the maintenance and repairs required to keep the lodge in the good condition expected by its owners and guests.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Maintain swimming pool and Jacuzzi water clarity, proper chemical balances, and clean appearance.
- Perform snow removal, clearing fire exits, pathways, and other designated areas in a timely and continuous manner.
- Repair or replace broken kitchen appliances.
- Maintain and repair lamps and light fixtures.
- Clear clogged drains using power snakes, hand snakes, plungers, or drain cleaners.
- Diagnose and resolve Safelok electronic lock failures.
- Diagnose commercial video system problems and resolve them with necessary component exchanges.
- Respond to all owner and guest requests in a polite, patient, professional, and timely manner.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- 0‑6 months of job‑specific experience with demonstrated competence.
- Maintenance‑related work experience and/or training.
- Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
- Basic math skills, reading, writing, simple arithmetic, and interpersonal communications.
- Reliable, mature, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to exercise judgment within policy guidelines without supervisory approval.
- Problem‑solving and initiative within job description and responsibility limitations.
Shifts vary and may include early morning, late evening, weekends, and holidays. Specific shift times are:
- 7:00am – 3:00pm
- 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 3:00pm – 11:00pm
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be prepared to stay overnight if needed during road closures. May experience stress from continual public interaction, winter conditions, snow‑night requirements, and commuting. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long periods, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive motions. Work outdoors with constant exposure to cold and extreme weather. Frequent interruptions and noise. May work in small, cramped spaces such as boiler rooms, closets, and tunnels.
Uses manual and powered tools (drills, sanders, routers, planers, power saws, drain snakes, electric meters, calculators, computers). Operates snowbirds vehicles and snow‑removal equipment (gas, diesel, electric, manual). Responsible for proper care of all lodge and departmental equipment and tools, including snow blowers and vehicles.
