Job Overview

As our Maintenance Service Worker, you will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction tasks in combination of several trades within the Facilities and Maintenance Department at Prince William Sound College. This is a 12‑month/year temporary position. This position has an option to join Local 6070 Union. Your work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial tasks such as bathroom cleaning and sanitation, cleaning of building floors, walls, ceilings, windows, and furniture when necessary, removing trash and hazards present in the building.
  • Use various hand tools such as mops, brushes, shovels, screwdrivers, pliers, ratchets/sockets, etc., and various power operated equipment such as carpet cleaners, floor buffers, snow and leaf blowers, mowers, weed whackers, saws, drills, etc.
  • Clean up potential biohazards and body fluids with appropriate disinfection material when required.
  • Operate various equipment and vehicles as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

An unrestricted Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details

This position is located on the Prince William Sound College campus in Valdez.

Salary Information: MSW3 / Step 1 $ 22.49/hr. (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement).

This position is represented by the Alaska Higher Education Crafts & Trades Employees (L6070).

The University of Alaska reserves the right to require employees to work on-site at the UA facilities. Hybrid and remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at the University's discretion.
