Job Summary

Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering. Assists maintenance engineers and other workers with their tasks. Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures. May require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.

Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.

Responsibilities
  • Under direct supervision, performs basic general maintenance and repairs to campus buildings and other facilities throughout the university.
  • Performs inspections and routine maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs various building environmental systems and associated components including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Coordinates with supervisors to schedule repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold and sanitary sewer systems. Includes, but not limited to, replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, replacing piping, clearing drains, and cleaning areas affected by leaks.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building electrical and lighting systems. Includes, but not limited to, lighting elements, ballasts, devices, fan motors, and circuit breakers. Provides routine and scheduled maintenance such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, and batteries.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks such as door repair and replacement, window repair and replacement, casework and signage repair and replacement.
  • Maintains indoor and outdoor surfaces in regard to painting structures and objects, cleans surfaces, pressure washing, painting, and material repair and replacement.
  • Install, repair and replace flooring and carpet.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accredited program with one year of experience;
    Valid driver's license. Basic level of knowledge in general building maintenance and construction skills.

Shift, Salary, Benefits

Shift: Days — The regular working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and may require occasional overtime.

Pay Band: 6

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Recruitment Period: 1/6/2026 - Until Filled
