Part-time Custodian - Continuous pool

Overview

Clark College is currently accepting applications for part‑time, permanent classified Custodian 1 positions to support the Facilities Services Department. The positions are responsible for performing custodial work on the main campus and are expected to work approximately 15 hours a week. Schedule options may include early morning Monday‑Thursday 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., or evening Tuesday‑Friday 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., or weekend Saturday‑Sunday 5:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. This position is not eligible for benefits.

• Perform general cleaning duties of various buildings and facilities.
• Operate power equipment such as scrubbers, polishers, waxers, buffers and commercial vacuums.
• Clean and sanitize shower rooms and restrooms.
• Ensure restrooms are properly supplied.
• Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing or stripping floor finish; applying new finish and buffering/burnishing floors.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs to custodian equipment, carpets and minor adjustments to plumbing fixtures.
• Vacuum, shampoo and remove stains from carpets using a truck‑mount cleaning machine.
• Maintain custodial closets and mechanical rooms.
• Fulfill requests for event setups/resets; furniture/equipment moves; maintenance requests and work orders for special services; and surplus furniture.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Must have a current, valid driver’s license.
• Good customer service skills.
• Knowledge of proper use of custodial chemicals and equipment.

• Ability to interpret labels and follow written instructions and diagrams.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Physical ability to perform moderately heavy cleaning tasks, reach, push, pull, bend, climb ladders up to 12 feet, and lift up to 50 pounds from floor to 36 inches.
• Ability to properly and safely use chemicals and operate custodial power equipment.
• Ability to follow laws, regulations and standards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
• The initial appointment includes a 6‑month probationary period; permanent status is earned after successful completion.
• Background check, including criminal record and sexual misconduct background check, will be conducted as required by law.

Salary Range: $17.40 – $21.90 per hour (Step C‑M, commensurate with qualifications and experience). Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
