Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Maintenance-I position is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of school buildings and surrounding grounds. The Maintenance I should be a jack-of-all trades, ready for minor emergencies that may come up. This position must work closely with Building Principal on a daily basis.
- General safety, health, and comfort of the building’s occupants.
- Cleanliness and orderliness of the building, site, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Minor repairs such as tightening screws, replacing glass, light bulbs, and faucet washers, fixing furniture, painting, etc.
- Grounds work to include, but not be limited to, removing snow, sanding, salting, mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
- Dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, washing windows, waxing, and vacuuming.
- Building security.
- Moving and arranging furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Receiving, delivering, and storing shipments of materials.
- At the beginning of each shift, the work to be done will be directed by Physical Plant Supervisor in coordination with the Building Principal.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reports to, receives daily work assignments, and is evaluated by Physical Plant Supervisor, in conjunction with Building Principals.

- Education and Experience: High school degree, or equivalent, plus 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. - Mathematical
Skills:
Good basic mathematical skills including ability to perform operations using units of weight, measurement, volume and distance. - Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations in a safe, efficient manner. Must be able to multi-task to meet objectives on time, on budget.
