Hiring Range: $17.17 - $18.50

SUMMARYThe Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks. In addition, they work with their Center Manager to ensure everyone is maintaining a clean and healthy facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Carry out duties in compliance with HS Performance Standards, Content Area Plans, Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Programs, NAEYC, and NEKCA Standard of conduct.
- Complete NEKCA Performance Evaluations, Professional Development Self-Assessment.
- To maintain facility in good physical appearance
- To wash or vacuum bathroom and classroom floors daily
- To clean toilet facilities daily
- To empty trash daily
- To vacuum/mop office space and parents' space weekly and to empty trash daily
- To clean garbage receptacles weekly
- To wash center equipment (i.e. tables, chairs, toys, cribs, etc.) weekly
- To wash center equipment as necessary
- To clean woodwork, walls and windows as necessary
- To carry out any additional state sanitation requirements
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain good relations with participants, other staff, and members of the community.
- Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and record keeping, including spreadsheet applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and database management systems.
- This position is considered a mandated reporter.
- Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-initiated, may need to work flexible hours (program dependent)
- Demonstrate positive problem-solving skills in stressful situations.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate familiarity with, and sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income individuals, and some knowledge of the community and available resources to address them.

Work Schedule:
Employees in this position may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to perform maintenance or repair work.
Environment:
Employees in this position work primarily in an office/school environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions.
Physical Demands:
Employees in this position are required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift heavy objects while performing maintenance or repair work.
Hazards:
Employees in this position personnel may be exposed to hazardous materials or chemicals, and may need to wear protective gear such as gloves, masks, or goggles.

QualificationsRequirements
Education and ExperienceGED or High School Diploma (preferred)
