Location: Arlington

Petroleum Maintenance Technician

The Petroleum Maintenance Technician role is a critical position within the Vermont Maintenance Department, reporting directly to the Director of Field Maintenance. In this role, you will support the maintenance and operation of more than 100 gasoline retail locations in collaboration with a team of technicians. This position includes participation in an on-call rotation and is fully field-based, requiring travel to sites at least five days per week.

You will work closely with station dealers and managers to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include maintaining and supporting Passport and Veri Fone point-of-sale (POS) systems, fuel dispensers, and Veeder-Root equipment. A company vehicle will be provided to support daily field operations. The ideal candidate will live in or near Lebanon, NH, White River Jct., VT, or Rutland, VT.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions in the field.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and departments to coordinate repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain and upgrade dispensers and POS systems in 100+ sites across VT and NH.
  • Perform onsite maintenance of UST equipment and alarms as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in petroleum equipment maintenance, preferably within retail convenience store environments.
  • Vocational or technical education is preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fuel dispensers, point-of-sale systems, and IT networks, with an understanding of electronic repair for petroleum systems preferred.
  • Shows willingness to learn and obtain certifications on various POS systems and components.
  • Possesses the ability to manage and take ownership of work with limited supervision.
  • Is results-oriented with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Is able to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Windows; IT aptitude is a plus.
  • Daily travel to various job sites across Vermont and New Hampshire with occasional overnights.
  • Performs occasional light handyman work as needed.

Pay Range $23.80 - $33.32

The pay range for this position is outlined above. The final amount offered at the start of employment is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, abilities and geographic location, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
