Overview
Clean and perform routine housekeeping and maintenance of campus buildings, including residence halls, classrooms, and administrative offices. Supports the department’s role in conference/event activities.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain assigned college buildings such as residence halls, offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, etc.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wash, strip, wax, and buff floors and stairwells.
- Wash and clean windows, walls, chalkboards, trash cans, furniture, appliances, and other fixtures.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, woodwork, blinds, drapes, and other interior surfaces.
- Clean, maintain, and stock bathrooms, including changing and cleaning shower curtains.
- Water plants and perform other tasks related to the general appearance and upkeep of the building or area.
- Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, heating, and ventilating systems (e.g., cleaning air vents, draining, plunging toilets, replacing light bulbs).
- Empty trash and recycle receptacles, move waste and recyclables, pick up litter in and around buildings, and remove snow and salt around building entrances.
- Assist with general exterior upkeep such as mulching and other landscaping tasks.
- Move furniture, appliances, and other items (tables, chairs, desks, beds, mattresses, dressers, stoves, refrigerators) as needed and arrange them in residence halls, classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms.
- Coordinate and carry out specialized custodial functions such as refinishing floors, shampooing carpets, minor painting, and equipment repair.
- Keep athletic areas and locker rooms clean; set up and take down gym/sport equipment.
- Contribute to a clean and safe work environment by using appropriate cleaning/safety procedures, equipment, and supplies.
- Be aware of exposure to cleaning/workplace chemicals, body fluids, and other workplace hazards.
- Perform regular quality control inspections, preventive maintenance, and report facility problems and deficiencies.
- Conference/Event duties include: extensive contact with conference leadership; audio‑visual equipment set‑up and troubleshooting; ensuring activities follow the plan; coordinating clean‑up and setup according to schedule; keeping supervisor informed of problems and requesting assistance as needed; removing bulk trash, recycling, etc. from campus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school education desirable.
- One to two years of relevant commercial or institutional custodial experience.
- Physical ability to perform heavy custodial work and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good basic supervisory skills.
- Ability to obtain a fleet license (unless approved by manager).

Hours:
37.5 hours per week. Budgeted Wage: $18.50 per hour. Exempt Status:
Non‑Exempt. Grade: S06.
