Introduction
Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) is a State of Connecticut institution of higher learning and the state’s designated public liberal arts university. Our mission is to provide high quality undergraduate and select graduate programs to a diverse population of talented students. We are recruiting for a Custodian position on our campus in Willimantic (Windham County), CT.
Position Highlights- Full‑Time, 37.5 hours per week
- Second Shift – 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Tuesday – Saturday
- Location:
Willimantic, CT - Valid driver’s license required

- Perform custodial tasks and maintain spaces such as dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, kitchens, dining rooms and lavatories, including outdoor areas.
- Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors with appropriate equipment.
- Wash, dust, and polish glass, windows, woodwork, walls, furniture, and metal equipment.
- Make beds; manage linens, blankets, and clothing within the work area.
- Collect and count soiled laundry; sterilize glassware, wash basins, and bedpans.
- Clear trash and dispose of it appropriately.
- Report repair needs and perform minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs, replacing fuses, lubricating hinges, and tightening drawer mechanisms.
- Replace ceiling or floor tiles when necessary.
- Remove snow and ice from stairways and walkways and sand and salt stairways as required.
- Move furniture and set up classrooms.
- Run errands and inspect buildings for damage, reporting conditions to the supervisor.
- Perform related duties as required.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of operating, caring for, and performing minor maintenance on equipment.
• Record‑keeping ability.

Special RequirementsIncumbents may need to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits, and/or certifications as required by the appointing authority.
Physical and Working Conditions- Must have adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, and visual and auditory acuity.
- Must be able to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or individuals.
- A physical examination may be required.
