Position: Generator Technician
Location: Vernal, UT 84078
Type: Full Time
Education: High School or GED
Salary: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
The Field Generator Technician provides technical expertise as part of a team for the repair and maintenance of natural gas-powered generators and other supporting equipment. The role develops, refines, and optimizes maintenance programs to reduce fleet costs and maximize reliability. Responsibilities include documentation, collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams, and maintaining uniform customer service across field offices.
Essential Duties- Perform maintenance services on Mesa units in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain unit records by accurately recoding service, repair tasks, and parts used.
- Troubleshoot problems and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Verify and ensure unit serviceability by following checklists.
- Update professional knowledge through continuous study of Mesa units.
- Maintain the Mesa standard in all job responsibilities.
- Perform all duties safely and effectively, following company policies and procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work environments.
- Transmit information and documents using computer and phone.
- Maintain professional personal appearance.
- Help foster a positive team spirit.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Required: High School or GED
Preferred: Vocational/Technical degree with engine or mechanical focus; or Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university.
Required:
- 1 year operating 3/4–1 ton service trucks.
- 1 year of trailer pulling experience.
- 2 years of related experience.
- Honorably discharged service veterans.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and standard/metric systems.
- Understanding of electricity and associated hazards.
- Proficiency with engine troubleshooting tools, including ECU and gaseous fuel systems.
- Knowledge of Mesa unit maintenance procedures and standards.
- Basic mechanical and electrical repair methods.
- Safety protocols and company policies.
- Recordkeeping and documentation practices.
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques.
- Customer service principles.
- Use of digital communication and documentation tools.
- Ability to perform routine and complex maintenance and repairs.
- Accurate documentation of service and parts usage.
- Professional, customer-focused service delivery.
- Use of service checklists to ensure unit readiness.
- Maintenance of organized and safe work environments.
- Clear communication via phone and computer.
