Performs moderately complex (journey-level) custodial supervisory work. The Custodial Manager I, provides general guidance and direction to their assigned team of custodians. They perform Quality Control inspections of housekeeping services to assigned buildings, checking for appropriate use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Reports unsafe conditions and provides feedback on unit(s) cleanliness, housekeeping/maintenance needs, and supply inventory. Actively participates in the hiring, training, and performance management of assigned team.

Ensures the unit(s) is ready for inspection by internal and external agencies. Supervises the work of others. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

This position may also be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on maximum security locations.

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs routine inspections on assigned units and corrects deficiencies and provides feedback to the assigned custodians.
• Prepares reports of work activities and organizes job tasks, seeking assistance from their supervisor, when needed.
• Monitors employee performance, providing employees with performance feedback and on-job training as required or requested. Conducts employee performance evaluations on assigned custodians.
