TV Truck OperatorUnder limited supervision, performs skilled technical work in the inspection, assessment, and cleaning of the County’s Sanitary Sewer Mains, Manholes, and related appurtenances. Work involves the operation of a mobile closed‑circuit televising unit and organizing and scheduling activities to conduct internal inspections of the sanitary sewer lines. Employee is responsible for maintaining inspection records; including condition assessment reports and for determining and recommending the repair activities to insure system reliability.
Reports to the Wastewater Collection Supervisor.
- Operates and maintains a mobile closed-circuit televising unit.
- Schedules and organizes the activities of employees assisting in the cleaning, inspecting, and repair of the sanitary sewer lines.
- May be required to assist in the smoke testing, repairing of sewer line, and rehabilitation system activities.
- Accurately enters data to reflect inspections performed and inspection findings.
- Prepares and maintains various logs and reports of maintenance activities and submitting to the Wastewater Collection Supervisor as requested.
- Maintenance of electronic records and performing quality check of records and files to be processed, performing CMMS system updates, and collaborating with co-workers as needed for clarification and guidance.
- Ensures that all necessary maintenance of traffic devices (MOT) is appropriate for the application and are correctly placed per established standards.
- May be required to enter confined spaces and work in or around raw sewage while utilizing appropriate safety equipment and following established Policies and Procedures.
- May be required to work overnight, weekends, holidays and respond to after‑hours calls.
- Will assist in identifying yearly budgetary needs for sewer.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by (3) three years of experience working on sewer collection systems.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations- Must possess and maintain a Class B Wastewater Collection technician certification, or obtain within (1) year of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a National Association of Sewer Service Companies Certification (NASSCO), or obtain within (1) year of hire.
- FDOT Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Intermediate Course or ability to obtain with 90 days of employment.
- Must possess a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License, with Tanker Endorsement within 18 months of hire.
Knowledge of operation of mobile sewer line televising equipment.
Knowledge of construction and field inspection methods and practices.
Knowledge of the various grades, quality standards, and sources of supply and price trends for a variety of utilities maintenance equipment, supplies and materials.
Knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization, and administration.
Knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of wastewater collection system maintenance activities.
Skill in the use and care of various hand and power tools, and understands the safety hazards and applicable precautions involved with such work.
Ability to perform minor equipment repairs.
Knowledge of methods of installation, repairing, and maintaining a wastewater collection system.
Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair and maintenance work.
Knowledge of the hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair work.
Ability to perform data entry accurately.
Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Environmental ConditionsWork is performed outside in varying weather conditions with dust, chemicals, grease, oils, uneven surfaces, electricity.
