Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm
- Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.
- Routine building maintenance activities; minor plumbing repairs for leaking faucets and clogged toilets; carpentry work to repair dents/holes and paint walls.
- Prevents maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
- Mowers grass, trims hedges, blows leaves, and collects debris to maintain beautification of grounds.
- Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
- Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
- Monitors activities and visitors on building and grounds for security.
- Drives truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work; drives Salvation Army vehicle to pick up/drop off materials, supplies, donations, mail and other items to/from different locations.
- Drives vehicle to transport adults, teenagers and/or children to/from Vero Beach to/from different locations; drives carefully, observing traffic signs and conditions to ensure passenger safety.
- Cleans surroundings after each repair job and ensures all tools are collected; leaves surroundings neat and clean.
- Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
- Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and strenuous, heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

- Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years’ experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid state driver's license/Forklift Certification
