About

the role

Reporting to the Company’s Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager, an exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance Superintendent to join the Syrah team based in Vidalia, Louisiana. This role is responsible for mechanical plant maintenance activities undertaken in a safe and efficient manner in line with the approved schedule / strategy and to ensure all issues, hazards and incidents are reported in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion safety by complying with environmental, social, health, and safety standards; proactively reporting hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Maintain constant situational awareness to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and the development and daily review of SWIs.
  • Perform maintenance and mechanical work on rotating equipment, including centrifugal, reciprocating, diaphragm, and metering pumps, gear reducers, blowers, and mechanical seals.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble, and install equipment per manufacturer specifications, ensuring proper alignment, balance, and tolerances.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, IOM manuals, SDS sheets, and generate teardown/repair reports.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools and proper torquing practices.
  • Work safely with forklifts, in confined spaces, and at heights as required.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across plant, workshop, and site areas.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly and actively pursue ongoing mechanical training.
  • 5+ years’ experience with rotating equipment; trade or professional certifications preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read drawings and service manuals.
  • Proficient with hand tools, machine tools, and precision measurement equipment.
  • Safety-focused, self-directed, and team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to perform physical tasks in indoor and outdoor environments.
