Assistant Plant Manager

Responsibilities:- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair bakery production equipment, including packaging systems, conveyors, ovens, boilers, refrigeration units, and related machinery.
- Oversee and perform maintenance and repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Set up and configure a wide range of production equipment such as wrapping machines, gas-fired ovens, fryers, dough mixers, batching and scaling systems, boilers, freezers, and conveyor systems.
- Lead and execute routine equipment setup, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Verify completion and quality of preventive maintenance tasks; train and coach maintenance staff on proper PM procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping of maintenance activities.
- Perform and supervise general facility maintenance and related operational tasks.
- Support and participate in on-the-job training initiatives for maintenance personnel.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment in compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate equipment downtime and operational issues to senior leadership, including the Chief Engineer and Plant Manager.
- Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and complies with OSHA regulations.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts related to equipment failures, reliability concerns, throughput issues, quality deviations, and environmental compliance.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to team members to promote productivity and teamwork.
- Review and validate maintenance logs and work records completed by hourly staff.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance leadership or management role.
- Prior experience managing within a unionized environment is highly preferred.
- 2-5+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, conveyors, refrigeration, boilers, and electronic systems.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance methodologies.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Experience conducting risk assessments and applying root cause failure analysis tools
