Position: Laborer (Vehicle Storage)

Summary

Position within Community Recreation Division, MWR Department, CNIC. Duties common to MWR occupations including grounds maintenance, warehouses, facilities, and rental operations. Involves heavy labor, hand and power tools, and operation of motor vehicles and large equipment.

Duties
  • Loads and unloads materials from ground, pallets, skids, platforms, trucks, lifting devices, and transport vehicles, manually or mechanically.
  • Operates a variety of power equipment: mowers, clippers, posthole diggers, blowers, weed eaters, power washers, banding equipment, and others.
  • Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, and brooms to maintain and clean facilities and grounds.
  • Moves and organizes equipment, supplies, furniture, and materials by hand or mechanical means.
  • Excavates, backfills, or spreads sand, dirt, or fill materials to improve recreation spaces.
  • Ensures grounds and facilities are maintained and clean.
  • Clears small trees, limbs, debris, and bushes using hand tools.
  • Clears snow, sand, or dirt from sidewalks, playgrounds, courts, beach, and parking lots.
  • Cleans and waxes vehicles.
  • Maintains inventory of hand and power tools, large equipment, and inflatable bounce equipment.
  • Makes adjustments, repairs, paints, and performs carpentry as needed.
  • Assists mechanic with maintenance and cleaning of rental equipment.
  • Delivers, sets up, inspects, and tears down inflatable bounce equipment.
  • Assists in preparing excess property for disposal.
  • Selects most appropriate equipment for each task to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assists in issuing and receiving rental equipment, hooking up trailers, and loading/unloading into personal vehicles.
  • Observes safety, sanitation, environmental, hazardous waste disposal, and housekeeping rules and regulations.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must have or be able to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL‑ driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations.
Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to the position.

  • Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of large equipment and power tools.
  • Ability to operate and control riding mowers on slopes.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment around buildings, walls, trees, fence lines, banks, hillsides, trenches, curbs, rocks, and obstacles.
  • Ability to operate various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift/lower, adjust, and engage/disengage components.
  • Knowledge and skill using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment, and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to complete assignments involving multiple tasks following detailed procedures and simple drawings.
  • Education is not a positive requirement.
Additional Information

Salary is dependent on experience.

Some positions may require a one-year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days is required. E-Verify is used to confirm eligibility to work in the United States.
