Job Description
Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions.
Provides a full range of custodial/housekeeping services for college facilities to include trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, black/white‑board cleaning, etc. Provides room set‑up/take‑down assistance and as assigned. Performs other cleaning tasks as assigned. Maintains and demonstrates good attendance habits.
This position has been designated an essential position. Employees filling these positions may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college/campus closure due to weather or other emergent conditions.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Required Qualifications- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping services, and sanitizing techniques.
- Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
- Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
- Ability to lift objects not more than 50 lbs.
- Experience in a janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping program/environment.
- Experience with in a multi‑building housekeeping operation, preferred.
- Work Schedule:
4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends or 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends. - Telework options:

- Pay Range: $29,760 to $34,900, commensurate with experience.
