Job Duties As a GROUNDS CREW LEADER you will:

Individual will effectively coordinate, supervise and train assigned personnel in and during the performance of landscape activities including but not limited to landscape construction, concrete and asphalt patches, repairs, removals, and installs from scratch. Turf maintenance, litter collection, chemical application and playground installation, maintenance and repair at various school and municipal sites.

Individual will maintain and document concrete and asphalt inspections, material orders, scheduling deliveries of materials to the jobs.

Maintain Hansen entries.

Prepare employee appraisal reports and daily work reports.

Ensure the proper application of required safety standards and proper operation and maintenance of relative equipment.

Interpret and enforce rules, regulations and policies.

Tactfully, promptly and effectively respond to citizen concerns.

Prepare written reports, maintain efficient records and inventories, assigned tools and equipment. Assist as needed in the daily performance of assignments.

Provide special event support as needed.

Work is performed outside in all weather conditions including temperature extremes.

Work schedules may be adjusted seasonally.

Selected candidates must furnish and wear steel-toed safety boots.

Selected candidates must have a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina.

Driver’s License (a learner permit is not a valid driver’s license), pass a pre-employment physical and have a satisfactory background check.

As a condition of employment, all employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided with an approximate training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permit table, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.(Full
