Custodial Worker - part-time

Description

Isle of Wight County is recruiting part‑time Custodial Workers to perform cleaning duties related to the operation of assigned County Buildings.

• Cleans restrooms
• Replenishes restrooms
• Empties trash
• Empties recycle bins
• Cleans desks where applicable
• Cleans tables in conference rooms
• Vacuum offices and common areas
• Cleans interior glass
• Cleans drinking fountains
• Dusts partitions, cabinets and vents
• Mops floors
• Cleans elevators and shines stainless steel surfaces
• Operates chemical dispensing units
• Properly measures chemicals not provided in dispenser form
• Understands how to read MSDS sheets
• Properly labels chemicals
• Wears proper PPE when working with chemicals
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy

The work is medium workload:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and some general custodial/cleaning experience.

The position is part-time, working Monday – Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as there are multiple positions to be filled.

All County employees may be required to report to serve our customers during emergency conditions. If assigned to emergency duties, employees may perform different duties outside their regular job functions.

This position is eligible for part-time benefits, including leave accrual.
