Job DescriptionReports to: Assigned Site Supervisor/Principal
General definition of work: Performs semiskilled cleaning of school building interiors, maintaining grounds, and related tasks as assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the assigned site supervisor.
Essential Functions- Opens and secures building
- Sweeps, strips, buffs, waxes, or dust mops assigned areas; cleans carpets; sweeps and mops cafeteria floors; moves tables and chairs
- Removes trash from building; picks up trash outside buildings; maintains porch areas
- Scrubs, cleans, and sanitizes restrooms including mirrors, washes basins, urinals, commodes, etc.; fills tissue, towel, and soap dispensers
- Cleans walls and removes graffiti
- Dusts furniture, walls, windowsills, and other woodwork; cleans windows
- Sanitizes and cleans drinking fountains
- Mows grass, weedeats, removes leaves
- Replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles
- Hauls books and papers; moves furniture
- Cleans up spills and sanitizes areas following incidents involving bodily injuries
- Assists with overseeing car riding students entering and exiting the facility
- Assists maintenance technicians as required
- Assists with snow removal and ice control
- Performs various other tasks associated with the custodial profession
Physical requirements: Work requires regular exertion of up to 10 pounds, frequent up to 25 pounds, and occasional up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, using hands, pushing or pulling; speaking or hearing; lifting; occasionally sitting, climbing, or balancing; vision; vocal communication; hearing; using measuring devices, operating machines, observing activities; exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather; occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids;
may require specialized personal protective equipment; moderately noisy location.
General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to read; thoroughness, cleanliness; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate required.
