Substitute Custodian

Job Description

General Description: This position is responsible for the care and cleaning of school buildings and grounds to maintain safety and order.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Dusts chairs, tables, shelves, and other furniture or equipment
• Washes windows, walls, woodwork, and blinds
• Performs vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and buffing duties
• Collects and disposes refuse
• Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms, replenishes restroom supplies, and ensures toilets and sinks are operable
• Secures classroom doors and windows
• Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrance ways, and steps
• Makes minor repairs to buildings, furniture, and equipment
• Cleans and deodorizes all types of flooring
• Unloads trucks and moves materials, equipment, and furniture, as needed and directed
• Assists in preparing multipurpose spaces
• Shares in the responsibility for security of the building at all times
• Maintains regulated materials as directed
• Performs related duties as required or assigned

Requirements:

• Ability to read and write effectively.
• Physically capable of performing manual labor.
• Good verbal communication and human relation skills.
• General knowledge of custodial skills.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Physical Requirements:

• This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations.
• The employee may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel.
• There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor and indoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises.
• This job requires lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with others.
• Verbal communication and hearing may be required for expressing or exchanging information.
• Use of computer or other device screens is necessary.

This is a temporary/hourly position to be called upon as needed.

Position Type: Substitute

Salary: $16.65 to $16.65 Per Hour
