Job Summary

The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, inspection, and control of all custodial and related services associated within assigned contract. Specific responsibilities for the custodial manager will be determined by client expectations and at the discretion of the Director of Operations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Allocate work responsibilities among subordinates, supervise and coordinate activities of assigned areas (common areas, service hallways, food court, etc.).
  • Know contract requirements, create schedules to maintain appropriately skilled staffing levels to satisfy those schedules.
  • Approve vacation time, overtime and timecards.
  • Train custodians on work‑related equipment.
  • Supervise, motivate, discipline, and evaluate staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with customer management representatives on all matters relating to services performed.
  • Resolve clients’ concerns and perform inspections for satisfactory job performance.
  • Meet periodically with subordinates to review status and institute corrective measures for deficiencies.
  • Monitor supply use inventory.
  • Ensure all equipment in working condition.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including hands‑on cleaning if required.
Requirements
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, responsiveness, attention to detail and excellent follow‑through.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Minimum of five to ten years of recent experience in supervisory roles over custodial and related employees in major facilities.
  • General hands‑on knowledge of routine nightly and daytime facility cleaning and related services.
  • Work hours mostly weekdays with occasional evenings, weekends and on‑call for emergencies.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
