Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Blue Ridge Medical Center (BRMC) main campus and satellite locations are well-maintained, and that equipment and fixtures used by employees are safe and in excellent working order. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for setting up and relocating furniture and non-IT workstation items. They work with the Director of Building Operations to plan the budget for the facilities department, including repairs and maintenance.
The Maintenance Technician may be assigned special projects and committee membership. They may also assist the housekeeping staff in performing daily cleaning services to ensure that all facilities are in a clean and orderly state. They must demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision, and core values of BRMC.
Job Duties and Functions
- Ensure safe and well-maintained facilities that meet health and safety regulations.
- Inspect facilities on a regular basis, making sure facilities are neat and clean and that any repairs needed are scheduled.
- Performs general maintenance, repairs, and renovations at all BRMC locations including but not limited to painting, wiring, general construction, plumbing, etc.
- Replace filters, light bulbs, and other fixtures as needed.
- Assists with the maintenance of parking lots, sidewalks, and stairways including snow and ice removal.
- Operate a work order information system, tracking requests, ensuring that work is completed in a timely manner, and providing feedback to requestors regarding work progress and completion.
- Produce and submit purchase orders for purchases, repairs, and maintenance.
- Ensure that assigned projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Handle emergency situations in a prompt and effective manner.
- Maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations (OSHA, building codes, fire code, etc.)
- Performs all duties in compliance with established safety and infection control policies and procedures.
- Provide regular verbal and written project status updates to the Director of Building Operations.
- Participate in strategy and planning meetings as assigned.
- Performs other necessary duties assigned by the Director of Building Operations.
Starting Compensation Range
: $20.99 - $25.48
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of technically based courses, training, or work experience in such fields as electricity, HVAC, landscaping, ground maintenance, general construction, etc.
- A minimum of two years' experience as a maintenance technician. Hands on knowledge of facility repair and the ability to focus on long-term priorities across several facilities.
- Possession of a valid Virginia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with 0 to +5 merit points and no major moving violations (reckless driving, DUI, racing, hit and run, etc.).
Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees, providers, and management as well as vendors and contractors. Must have knowledge of and ability to work with computer programs and office equipment. Ability to use basic maintenance and construction tools to carry out basic repair and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of OSHA standards. Ability to lift, carry and handle equipment, supplies and other worksite materials (up to 50 lbs.)
