Overview
Introduction The Department of Facilities & Fleet Management has an opportunity for a highly trained and skilled individual to participate in sustaining the foundation of local democracy. We are looking for a Custodial Maintenance and Operations Technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment as part of the Custodial Services Unit within the Buildings & Grounds Division. This is a full-time employment opportunity with competitive benefits and pay.
About This Role: The Lead/Senior Custodian supports custodial operations by modeling best practices, assisting with coordination of daily work, ensuring compliance with safety and hazardous materials requirements, performing quality assurance inspections, supporting preventive maintenance efforts, and serving as a knowledgeable resource across shifts and buildings. This role does not include formal supervisory authority.
- Perform day-to-day custodial operations to include sanitation, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and trash removal, and respond to emergency requests to meet customer needs.
- Assist other custodial staff in required training in policies and procedures and develop standardized workflows to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
- Conduct facility inspections to ensure desired outcomes and compliance with applicable safety standards and specifications; maintain documentation of those inspections.
- Assist in the maintenance of material inventory, estimation, and ordering of custodial supplies.
- Dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials properly to ensure regulatory compliance and safety.
- Prepare, review, and maintain various records and logs using work order systems.
- Perform and coordinate specialized cleaning projects including floor care and exterior building washing.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of custodial experience in a commercial environment.
Preferences- Three or more years’ experience as a custodian.
- Three or more years of managing supplies and working with contractors in a custodial environment.
- Three or more years of experience with Environmental Hazard Management, including management of chemicals.
Must possess a valid Driver's License;
Must pass a pre-employment physical;
Must pass a Police background check, which may include but is not limited to:
Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Fingerprinting may be required.
The position may require either daytime or evening shifts, with advance scheduling provided whenever feasible. The scheduled hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (Monday-Friday) and/or 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm (Monday to Friday). Some weekends may be required. This position is considered an Essential Employee and may require mandatory extra hours during County emergencies.
Hiring Salary Range$27.00 to $34.00 Hourly
