Facilities Equipment Technician – Henrico, VA

Job Overview

The purpose of this position is to support our retail stores by performing repairs and preventative maintenance on production equipment in the Bakery, Produce, Meat departments, Deli, and common areas.

• Evaluating and making repairs on retail equipment.
• Providing support to new stores, remodels, and PAD programs.
• Performing housekeeping, including vehicle inventory and cleaning, managing credit card statements and other associated paperwork.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and diagnosis of commercial food preparation equipment.
• At least 20 years old with a valid driver's license.
• Excellent driving record.
• Must obtain Natural/Propane Gas certifications within 180 days of hire.
• Ability to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, holidays and extended periods.
• Willingness to be on call 24/7 when an emergency arises.
• Willingness to travel to stores throughout the retail division, including nights, weekends, holidays, overnight stays and extended periods as required.
• Basic knowledge of Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
• Basic knowledge of Food Safety.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair all equipment being serviced (Electrical, Plumbing, Brazing, Mechanical, Natural and Propane Gas).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Computer skills (Outlook, Excel).
• Good interpersonal skills and team orientation.

• Degree in electrical motor control repairs from an industrial mechanical trade school.
• Six or more years of experience with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and diagnosis.
• Knowledge of SAP computer program.

Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November based on years of continuous employment: 15 hours of pay in the first year, one week’s pay in the second year if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check, and two weeks’ pay in subsequent years.
