Custodian; Part-Time

Responsibilities

• Unlocks and locks assigned city building(s) and parks per policies and procedures.
• Cleans assigned recreational facilities on a daily basis (i.e. cleans restrooms, sweeps, mops floors, vacuums carpets, disposes of refuse) and performs other building cleaning functions (window cleaning, floor waxing and buffering, furniture polishing, carpet shampooing, etc).
• May assist in maintaining lawns, flower beds and parking areas, and performs other outdoor maintenance work such as snow removal on sidewalks, painting, and safety checks around buildings.
• May clean and/or replace air filters and ceiling tiles, replace light bulbs, maintain supplies.
• May run errands, pick-up deliveries and set up rooms for meetings.
• May assist with training new employees on policies and procedures.

Ability to read and write and minimal experience in cleaning buildings (less than 6 months) required. At least 6 months related experience preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred.

• VA driver’s license

• General knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment (to include power‑run equipment)

• Organization and customer service skills

• Physical ability to move furniture and operate light equipment

• Work is primarily performed indoors but is occasionally exposed to temperamental changes, extreme noise, odors, dust and to outdoor conditions.

• Stooping, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, repetitive motions.
