Plant Operator - Nighttime; Union; Contingent Upon Award

This position is located in Blackstone, VA and is contingent upon contract award.

The Central Plant Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the equipment within a central utility plant, which typically includes boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and other HVAC systems, ensuring efficient and safe heating and cooling distribution throughout a building or campus by regulating temperatures, pressures, and flow rates, often requiring routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting issues, and responding to emergencies;

essentially acting as the primary caretaker of a facility's central energy production system.

Essential

Job Duties:

• Performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, system adjustments, and troubleshooting of plant equipment to maintain continuous operations and maximize system efficiency.
• Responds to alarms, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations, and coordinates corrective actions as necessary.
• Maintains operational logs and records, monitoring building automation and control systems, supporting water treatment processes, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Mandatory:

• High School Diploma.
• Experience in HVAC.
• Three (3) years of experience as Central Plant Operator.
• Secret Security Clearance.
