Shipyard Structural Welder — Pulse Arc Expert

Welders – Up to $55/hr + Per Diem – Newport News, VA

Hutco, Inc. is seeking advanced Structural Welders certified in Pulse Arc welding for long-term shipyard work in Newport News, VA. This role requires 4+ years of structural welding experience and the ability to pass all-position weld tests with no pre-test training. The ideal candidate is proficient in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P, with a strong understanding of shipbuilding standards and safety protocols.

• 4+ years structural welding experience in shipyards or naval settings
• Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and Pulse Arc (GMAW-P)
• Must pass weld tests (2G, 3G, 4G) with no training provided
• Experience with fillet/butt weld gauges and air carbon arc gouging
• Must complete OSHA-compliant safety training (confined space, fall protection, etc.)
• Ability to work all shifts and in physically demanding environments

• Pre-certified and test-ready in Pulse Arc welding
• Advanced PPE compliance and familiarity with respirators, fall protection, and shipboard tools
• Background in visual weld inspection and carbon arc proficiency
• Prior experience at Newport News Shipbuilding or similar naval yards
