The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for the position of seasonal Custodian (40 hours per week/evenings and weekends) for the Parks Maintenance Division.
Essential FunctionsPerform continuous inspection, cleaning, and sanitizing of park facilities to meet public health and safety standards.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors.
- Removing scuff marks, heavy dirt, scratches, etc., in order to maintain clean and attractive facilities.
- Arranging furniture for special meetings and functions.
- Securing buildings by inspecting doors, windows, and exits.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans and sanitizes restroom sinks, bowls, and floors; washes windows; replaces burned‑out bulbs; cleans, maintains, and stores equipment.
- Monitors building temperature to ensure comfortable conditions and advises supervisor when HVAC adjustments may be needed.
- Monitors all facility amenities for proper operation and reports any concerns to supervisor.
- Responds to incidents/accidents and completes necessary reports and documentation.
- Provides excellent customer service to public and coworkers.
- Opens small, motorized equipment such as snow removal equipment; uses various limited hand tools as assigned.
Under direct supervision of a Park Manager or designee, may perform general and light maintenance as assigned.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Shifts- Sunday through Wednesday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Wednesday through Saturday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Education and Experience:
Educational background sufficient to demonstrate aptitude for duties.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of custodial practices, tools, equipment, and materials; safety practices; ability to follow instructions; independent work; heavy lifting; effective relationships with employees and public.
3. Special
Qualifications:
Final candidate subject to background check; must be at least 18 years of age; must have a valid driver’s license; willing and able to work weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays.
Tasks require a variety of physical activities involving muscular strain. Physical demands may involve walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Communication and sensory abilities required. Occasional exposure to environmental hazards and chemicals.
Pay Range$14.50 – $16.00 per hour.
