Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable custodian to join our team at Unionville Elementary. This full‑time position is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate attention to detail, and contribute positively to the school community.

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and stored properly.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, reporting any shortages to the supervisor.
• Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and report issues promptly.
• Support the recycling and waste management efforts of the school.
• Collaborate with staff and administration to ensure a clean and healthy environment for students.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well‑being of the school community.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or school administration.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students and staff.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and equipment is preferred.
• Must be able to pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for special events.
