ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Build various structures for the use of the patients, e.g., benches, flower boxes, and other carpentry work.
- Perform general maintenance, plumbing repair, replacing and unclogging hair traps, unplugging toilets, repairing washers and dryers, replacing broken pipes and water lines.
- Maintain and replace electrical outlets and light bulbs, and rewire or replace wiring in various equipment used by the center.
- Remove furniture and clothing from rooms no longer occupied, or assist in moving patients’ belongings to another room.
- Paint interior or exterior of center and also may include wallpapering.
- Install and check batteries of smoke alarms, assist in fire drills, check extinguishers and assist fire marshal with inspection.
- Replace damaged windows and assist in the construction of any additions to the center.
- Comply with established budget restraints, maintain appropriate supplies and equipment necessary to perform job, and in accordance with established departmental budget.
- Maintain the grounds, keeping them free of garbage, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weeding, and operating pressure washers as requested.
- Use electrical tools and equipment (voltmeter, drills, saws, etc.) when appropriate.
- Check oxygen level of concentrators and perform routine maintenance as scheduled.
- Perform routine maintenance of water temperature, laundry equipment, fire alarm systems, fire safety equipment, and generators as scheduled.
- Perform basic plumbing and electrical skills as appropriate.
- Operate lawn equipment and perform routine ground maintenance (lawns, parking area, driveways, etc.).
- Perform basic carpentry as requested (including framing, drywall, electrical, etc.).
- Perform basic upkeep of nursing center such as changing filters, light bulbs, and cleaning as requested.
- Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks and assist with major cleaning projects as requested.
- Promote the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
- Contribute to committees, work groups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
- Proficient in using a computer, especially Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point.
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Communicates well with associates, patients, family members and visitors, providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
- Responds to expressed concerns while displaying a helpful, caring demeanor and answering questions in a professional manner.
A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESMay be responsible for the direction and supervision of associates in the maintenance department.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER APPLICATION SKILLSProficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
