General DescriptionThis position provides support to the Custodial Services Supervisor in the oversight of in-house and contracted custodial services. Conducts training for the in-house custodial staff. May require frequent lifting up to 45 pounds, moving up to 75 pounds and the operation of commercial cleaning equipment. Tasks and direction of others in tasks performed are specific with recurring assignments and are performed under general supervision of Custodial Supervisor.
May be required to work after hours, weekends and holidays. Will be required to work Monday – Friday.
- Assists and supports CCPS Day Porter and Custodian II to meet established cleaning procedures and processes by providing training to include chemical, machinery, and procedures.
- Ensures that custodial staff follow safety protocols and general cleaning guidelines.
- Performs Quality Assurance inspections of vendors’ performance to ensure compliance with contractual standards.
- Collects inspection data and generates reports.
- Collaborate and communicate with vendors in regards to performance and contractual expectations.
- Assists the Custodial Supervisor in overseeing the vendor's adherence and progression to the summer cleaning plan.
- Supports the Quality Assurance inspections of CCPS in-house cleaning.
- Supports Building Operations Supervisor with custodial issues or concerns.
- Assists the Custodial Supervisor in the management of Custodian II by:
- Facilitating the allocation of Custodian II support to schools when requested.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive schedules for Custodian II staff to record attendance, work hours, and overtime accurately.
- Organizing and conducting regular Custodian II meetings to foster a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing, performance review, and procedural updates.
- Creating, tracking, and managing work orders for schools as maintenance and cleaning needs arise.
- Conducting inspection of vehicle equipment and supplies issued to the Custodian II.
- Provides on-call phone support for after school activities, assisting with custodial-related issues and emergencies, when assigned.
- Drops off and delivers supplies for special projects as directed by the Custodial Supervisor.
- Oversees and manages any special projects assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.
- Provides cleaning support to schools as available.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Report PreparationOccasional status reports (written and telephonic) as requested by the Custodial Department
Equipment OperationVacuum cleaner, wet vacuum, Kaivac machines, carpet cleaner/extractor, mops and buffer, auto scrubber and burnishers and other custodial tools as applicable.
ContactsDaily contact with staff, administration and students within a school environment.
Work DirectionReceives both written and verbal requests from custodial supervisors, and school staff and administration for work to be done.
SupervisionDemonstrated supervisory skills in leading a custodial staff numbering 2-7 persons.
Decision MakingFrequent independent decision making in terms of work priorities. Seeks supervisor’s approval of non-routine activities and when funds are concerned.
