Natural Bridge State Park is accepting applications for Housekeeping Ranger positions.Job Summary
The primary focus of the Housekeeping Ranger includes proper and prompt cleaning of park facilities, including the visitor center, offices, restrooms, trail store, and park grounds. Performs light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Proper and prompt cleaning of restrooms and facilities, and trash removal
- Efficient cleaning of facilities before closing time
- Ability to work independently.
- Responsible for inventorying custodial supplies to maintain stock.
- Performs light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities
- Work various schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Successful candidates will have a combination of experience, education, and/or training in one or more of the following areas:
- Public relations
- Housekeeping
- Maintenance of buildings
- Grounds and equipment
- General knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and the use of various cleaning supplies/equipment.
- Must be willing to work shift work, various shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Must provide excellent customer service and be willing to work in a team.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices related to the work site.
- Background Check:
Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check. - Employment Eligibility:
Selected candidates must complete the I-9
Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify. - Driver's License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
- Work Requirements:
Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefit sand are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.

- DCR classified, retired, and wage staff (after six months of service) are entitled to overnight facility discounts, such as:
- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to the Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
- Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night before a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
