Westmoreland State Park, located in Montross, Virginia, is hiring for the summer season!
We are accepting applications for the Maintenance Ranger position. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are responsible, results-oriented, comfortable working without direct supervision, skilled at prioritizing tasks, and interacts positively with the public. The Maintenance Ranger performs recurring grounds care, facility and equipment maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate Virginia State Park facilities. Duties include,but are not limited to, cleaning bathhouses;
mowing grass; raking/removing leaf litter, trash and litter removal; painting;trail work; cleaning campsites, cabins, meeting facility, linen storage building, and office; and cutting/bundling firewood for merchandise sales.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 17 years old. Valid Virginia driver's license and reliable transportation required. Knowledge of hand and power tools required. General knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and cleaning supplies, ability to organize and perform routine cleaning, and maintenance functions.
Must provide excellent customer service and be willing to work in a team environment.
Additional Considerations: Experience with small engine repair, equipment operation, carpentry, and building trades.
Special Requirements:Must be willing to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1500 hours from May 1 to April 30. Employer participates in E-Verify. Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check including a criminal history record check.
