Kiptopeke State Park is accepting applications for the Housekeeping Ranger position.
Job Summary:Kiptopeke State Park is seeking qualified and enthusiastic applicants to fill the Housekeeping Ranger position. The primary focus of the Housekeeping Ranger includes proper and prompt cleaning of cabins, restrooms, campground bathhouses, and other park facilities.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning of cabins, and lodges with a heavy focus on cleaning campground bathhouses, and day use bathhouses.
- Perform light maintenance on cabin and lodge facilities as needed.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Keep chases and linen building organized and stocked.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time to perform manual labor safely.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices related to the work site.
- Ability to work individually.
- Knowledge of the operation of manual and power cleaning equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
- Must be able to follow oral instructions.
- Able to perform a variety of cleaning tasks and to tolerate contact with a variety of cleaning products and solutions.
- Ability to handle issues arising in the use of the facility by visitors.
- General knowledge of park operations and local attractions preferred.

: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business. - Work Requirements

Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.

- DCR classified, retired, and wage staff (after six months of service), are entitled to overnight facility discounts such as:
- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
- Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night prior to a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
