Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Summary
The Furniture Repair Technician 1 repairs, restores, and inspects merchandise that has been damaged or has manufacturer defects. The role is performed inside the shop or on the dock, ensuring outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
Position DescriptionSign‑On Bonus: $2,000 paid in 4 payments over 6 months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Identify repair needs and follow standard operating procedures to repair accordingly.
- Demonstrate proficiency in repairing at least one of the following:
- Upholstery / Leather products – stitching, panel replacement, mechanism, frame repair, button replacement, and other components.
- Wood / case goods – burn‑ins, color matching, panel replacements, adjustment of drawers, doors, glides, and other components.
- Achieve 80% restock to first quality.
- Identify proper quality disposition of furniture after inspection.
- Have a clear understanding and experience with product assembly.
- Utilize proper lifting techniques.
- Able to operate radio frequency equipment.
- Conduct operations in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain a clean work area, free from debris on the warehouse floor.
Education/
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 1–2 years experience working with upholstery, fabrics, wood furniture, leather, and veneer finishes. Able to use necessary tools and equipment. Strong working knowledge of leather repairs, wood repairs including scratches, dents, and split wood. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Certificates and Licenses: None required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Position Hiring RangeThe hiring pay range provides a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage that Living Spaces expects to pay for the position upon hire. Pay is determined by several factors, including applicant education, relevant work experience, knowledge, applicable skills, market demand, company budget, internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Living Spaces reserves the right to modify this page at any time.
CompensationHourly wage: $22.70 – $29.50. Overtime pay is available for eligible, non‑exempt team members. Reimbursement for expenses as required by applicable law and company policy. Retail, Guest Services and Distribution Center team members are eligible to receive a team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPIs.
