Job Description
The Senior Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of campus facilities. This role assists the Custodial Manager in coordinating cleaning schedules and supervising the day‑to‑day operations of the Custodial Staff. The Senior Custodial Worker plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and hygienic environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

- Supervision and Training: Lead and assist in supervising a team of custodial staff.
- Cleaning Procedures: Understand various cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used for maintaining cleanliness in different environments.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Respond to emergency cleaning requests and special projects promptly.
- Building Access: Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Equipment Management: Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students regarding custodial needs and services. - Physical Exertion: Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30‑60lbs), often in awkward positions.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety requirements, use protective equipment, and manage exposure to moderate hazards such as dust, grease, noise, and temperature extremes.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience in modern methods of building clearing, equipment operation, and application of chemical solutions.
- Certificates in custodial related fields.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting. Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes. Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
