Job Description
The Senior Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of campus facilities. The role assists the Custodial Manager in coordinating cleaning schedules and supervising day‑to‑day operations of the custodial staff. The Senior Custodial Worker plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and hygienic environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Essential Functions- Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions.
- Lead and assist in supervising a team of custodial staff.
- Understand various cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used for maintaining cleanliness in different environments.
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests and special projects promptly.
- Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students regarding custodial needs and services.
- Perform physically demanding tasks that require strength and frequent moderate lifting (30–60 lbs) and often in awkward positions.
- Follow all safety requirements, use protective equipment, and manage exposure to moderate hazards such as dust, grease, noise, and temperature extremes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience in the application of modern building cleaning methods, equipment operation, and chemical solution application.
- Certificates in custodial related fields.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
- Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
- Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
- Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
