COMPENSATION
: $27.81 per hour per IBEW CBA
WORK DAYS/HOURS
:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Subject to emergency call-outs on off-shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
JOB SUMMARY
:
Under the immediate supervision of the Powerline Supervisor, is responsible for performing various maintenance, janitorial and warehouse duties. These duties to include house cleaning in various electric department areas, lawn care, automobile and vehicle care, hand tool repair, various warehouse duties including stocking, issuing, and requisitioning parts and supplies, assist on electric crew as necessary. A general maintenance and warehouse person acts as the building and grounds custodian and general errand person.
Incumbent will spend time working with summer help, mowing grass, painting, and other maintenance issues. Performs other manual labor and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES
:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Cleans electric department building including offices, warehouse, restrooms and upstairs lunch area.
- Maintains above areas in orderly fashion including area in rear of building.
- Stocks shelves, issues material and requisitions replacement parts and material by using bar-code readers and computer databases, advises supervision when items are low on stock
- Delivers material to crews as necessary.
- Picks up material at vendor sites as needed.
- Uses and repairs hand tools.
- Cleans vehicles (interior and exterior) including automobiles as necessary.
- Maintains and mows substations as needed.
- Performs snow removal as necessary, using plows, shovels, or other appropriate equipment.
- General building maintenance and repair as necessary.
- Secure building and gates at end of shift.
- Fills in for Powerline Groundman as needed.
- Flags traffic for Line Crew as needed.
- Assists in leading seasonal help crew.
- Handles truck and vehicle weekly sheets.
- Drives tow motor.
- Handles shipping and receiving of materials.
- Interacts with and assists other City department personnel in a polite and professional manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
:
- General knowledge of building maintenance
- Knowledge of small tools
- Knowledge of grass cutting and lawnmowers, including a zero-turn mower
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- Skilled in cleaning, painting and minor repair
- Repair small tools.
- Ability to respond to demands quickly and efficiently; trustworthy and responsible.
- Ability to lead seasonal help and coordinate between help and supervisors
- Ability to be self-motivated and keep on task without constant supervision
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
:
The selected candidate must possess all of the following requirements:
- Completion of the twelfth school grade from a certified high school or a career center.
- One year of prior experience in warehousing or warehousing maintenance.
- Possession of a commercial class ‘A’ driver’s license – (Preferred) or ability to earn a Class A within one (1) year of employment (City provides training).
- Skills and abilities
which would be reflective of a Powerline Groundman classification, similar trade, and/or apprenticeship. - Experience with software applications, such as Google, Windows and Inventory Control Systems
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of criminal background checks, employment reference checks, physical examination and a pre-employment drug screen.
