Queen’s North Hawai'i Community Hospital is a 35-bed rural acute care hospital located in Waimea (Kamuela), Hawaii Island. More than 300 employees and over a dozen employed physicians staff the main hospital, as well the outpatient clinics located in the Lucy Henriques Medical Center, at our Primary Care Clinic located near Longs Drugs, and at our Specialty Clinic located in the Parker Ranch Center.

Job SummaryUnder the immediate supervision of the Supervisor, performs all work involved in the picking up, processing, washing, drying, folding and finishing of items that require cleaning, and the delivery of clean laundry and linens.
Typical Physical Demands- Seeing, hearing, speaking.
- Frequent: walking, reaching, standing for long periods of time; pushes/pulls heavy equipment/supplies up to 50 pounds; lifts/carries up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional: stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.
- Exposed to infection and disease-bearing specimens; odorous chemicals and specimens; housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals; hot and noisy equipment; heat and wetness; hot and humid work environment.
- Possible exposure to sharp objects (i.e. needles).
- Required Personal Protective Equipment: eye protection; gown; mask; utility gloves; face protection.
Education/Credential
- High school diploma or equivalent desirable.
- Prior housekeeping or commercial or institutional laundering experience preferred.
- Demonstrated abilities: speak, read, write and understand English orally and in writing; knowledge of housekeeping practices, procedures and guidelines required; basic computer skills needed to work automated systems and tablet computer; knowledge of laundry equipment and chemicals preferred.
