The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division is seeking motivated Tractor Mower Operators! This full-time, permanent role invol ves operating a tractor or power lawn mower to mow and trim grass in parks as well as using a truck and trailer to transport equipment as needed.

- There is one vacancy located in District IV, Kaneohe.
- There is one vacancy located in District V, Honolulu.
- Operate mowing equipment to mow City and rural parks, open spaces, and other assigned grassed areas safely and efficiently.
- Transport equipment to and from work sites using a truck and trailer.
- Perform routine maintenance on mowers and related equipment, including inspections, lubrication, oil changes, tire changes, and blade sharpening.
- Maintain equipment readiness by fueling, checking fluids, cleaning components, and completing operator maintenance checks.
- Follow instructions and operate vehicles and equipment safely while transporting personnel and completing assigned duties.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Work schedule is Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., days off may vary.
- May work evenings, weekends and holidays based on operational needs.
- This position will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Experience RequirementSome experience and/or training in the repair or operation of passenger type power mowers or similar motorized equipment.
Must Be Able To- Operate and perform basic maintenance on power mowers
- Recognize workplace hazards and follow safety precautions
- Learn and apply basic grounds maintenance methods
- Make minor repairs and maintain power mowers
- Lift and handle equipment, tools, and other loads
Valid Driver's License (type 3/automobile)
Prior to Appointment- Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) Test
- Valid Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Examiner's Certificate from City Health Services.
The above certificates and licenses must be obtained by the time indicated and maintained on a current basis thereafter as a condition of employment.
