Job Description

Work Locations

Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, Vienna Street, Ras Al Khaimah 99999

What will I be doing?

A Polisher is responsible for polishing and finishing surfaces of furniture, fixtures, and other items within the hotel premises to ensure they meet the property’s standards for aesthetics and quality. This includes maintaining the appearance of wood, metal, and other materials used throughout the hotel, ensuring a high level of detail and finish.

  • Maintain and improve woodwork in the hotel to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience; perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Apply polishing paints and coatings to high-traffic public area surfaces (floors, walls, furniture, brass railings, elevator panels, wood veneers, etc.).
  • Prepare surfaces for polishing by cleaning, sanding, or buffing to ensure optimal adhesion and luxury-grade finish.
  • Select appropriate low-odor, fast-drying, guest-safe polishing paints and coatings based on surface type, usage, and desired appearance.
  • Use painting and polishing equipment (brushes, rollers, sprayers, polishing machines) safely in guest-facing areas.
  • Apply polishing paints and coatings evenly to achieve a smooth, high-gloss or satin finish.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines; prioritize VOC-compliant and eco-friendly products.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for quality and touch up scuffs, fingerprints, or minor damages in public areas.
  • Coordinate with other members of the engineering team to schedule preventive maintenance during off-peak hours and prioritize public area projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage, disposal of materials, and protection of surrounding carpets/fixtures.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene regulations while working near Food & Beverage, Spa, Guestrooms, or Lobby areas.
  • Communicate effectively with the operations department, Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&B teams regarding project progress, urgent touch-ups, and any issues encountered.
  • Stay updated on new polishing techniques, luxury materials, and equipment to enhance skills and efficiency.
  • Provide input on material selection for optimal durability and aesthetic results in high-touch zones.
  • Collaborate with other departments for non-disruptive scheduling of public area projects.
  • Keep records of materials used, project progress, and before/after photos for preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with carpenters and other maintenance team members to assist in repair or refurbishment of items before polishing in public areas, when necessary.
  • Support colleagues with tasks as needed, including urgent public area touch-ups.
