Brief Duties and Responsibilities
:
This position manages the Fleet Services parts inventory and the Road Departments maintenance materials store. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventories, parts orders, receives, stores, make signs, and issues a variety of materials, tools, supplies, parts, fuel, road materials, and signs in support of Fleet Services shop, Sign shop, and Road crews. Receives requisitions for supplies and consults with department employees in order to meet their specific needs and to avoid service lags due to insufficient stock of supplies, parts and equipment.

Fills, issues, or delivers requested goods and equipment. Prepares parts and supplies for routine services and large projects. Maintains records and filing systems of inventory, goods received and issued, specialty items, all transactions, vehicle maintenance, warranties, repairs, vendors, sources, and other information related to area of assignment. Enters data into logs or computer, tracks follow-up dates and updates files to maintain accurate records of stock flows, equipment history, and future needs, and retrieves information as necessary.

Working Environment/Physical Abilities: Work is normally performed in a fleet service shop environment. Most of the day will be spent at a computer terminal. Work will include moving throughout the shop environment which contains hazards such as chemicals and moving vehicles and equipment. Work will also occur outside the shop, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, in order to review and maintain inventory stored there.

Must possess the physical ability to bend, lift, twist and perform repetitive hand motions, frequently lift 40-50lbs, while performing work. Operation of a forklift is required.



Minimum Qualifications :

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. AA and/or Technical Degree related to the mechanics fields (desired). Technical training in inventory management and two (2) years’ experience in purchasing and inventory control with basic bookkeeping and records maintenance; automotive and/or heavy equipment repair; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job

Licenses and other Requirements: Must successfully pass a background check and a driving record check. Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test before beginning work. Valid driver’s license required. Forklift operator’s card desired. First Aid and CPR card desired. Flagging card desired.
