Position Summary
The Supervisor, Custodial Services at Brandeis University supervises custodial staff engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of university buildings and related custodial services programs. The role includes ensuring campus facilities are orderly, safe from snow and ice hazards, and properly cleaned and maintained. The supervisor may work with a special emphasis on after‑hours shifts, including evenings and weekends, and may supervise the preparations of buildings for special events.
Compensationand Benefits
Salary range: $69.8k – $79.5k.

Work ScheduleMonday–Friday, 5:00AM – 1:00PM (35 hours per week).
Responsibilities- Supervise and direct custodians, including head custodians, in effective cleaning and maintaining university buildings, including preparing facilities for special events.
- Conduct interviews with prospective employees and recommend qualified candidates for selection.
- Inspect buildings on a regular schedule and coordinate overtime to ensure proper coverage.
- Coordinate with customers on all matters relating to services requested, by both in‑house staff and outside vendors and contractors.
- Communicate with other departmental supervisors and staff regarding emergencies or incidents, especially on evening and weekend shifts.
- Assist in developing and implementing work methods and procedures to achieve cost‑effective, efficient operations.
- Train personnel in the performance of their prescribed duties and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of technical and safety practices.
- Administer work orders for general repair and replacement (e.g., furniture, bathroom fixtures) within university buildings.
- Assist with campus‑wide scheduling and billing for moves and carpet cleaning.
- Monitor, order, and distribute supplies and equipment to custodial staff.
- Prepare written reports and other correspondence as needed.
- Coordinate first response efforts to emergencies, access situations, and cleanup crews.
- High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS with technical training preferred.
- 5–8 years of relevant custodial supervisory experience.
- Valid and current Massachusetts state driver's license; proficiency in driving a university vehicle.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
