• Black Seal License (FT Custodial staff only) must be obtained within 18 months of employment
• Minimum experience as determined by the board
• Knowledge of plant operation and maintenance; cleaning methods and procedures; heating and ventilation; proper handling of hazardous materials
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively and perform basic math
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
• Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment

• Building Security:
  Determine that all doors and windows are secured, all lights except those left on for safety reasons turned off.
• Check daily to ensure exit doors are open, panic bolts functioning during building occupancy hours.
• Building Maintenance:
  Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Operate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical use of resources.
• Clean and dust classrooms, offices, library, faculty rooms daily; empty waste baskets.
• Clean corridors each school day and as needed.
• Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures and floors daily; replenish paper and soap supplies.
• Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains daily.
• Clean cafeteria dining areas after use.
• Execute environmental accommodations related to student health and safety; implement specific cleaning instructions for students with allergies or disabilities.
• Obey all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations regarding plant operation.
• Clean whiteboards and chalkboards, rails daily.
• Move furniture/equipment as required for activities and as directed by the head custodian or principal.
• Comply with all laws and procedures for storage and disposal of recyclables, trash, waste, and debris.
• Conduct ongoing general maintenance, upkeep, repair program; perform minor repairs and report major repair needs to Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds.
• Clean all windows inside and outside as scheduled; dust window ledges weekly.
• Keep floors clean, attractive, preserve condition; vacuum carpets, sweep, mop, operate floor scrubbing devices as needed.
• Grounds Maintenance:
  Keep grounds free of rubbish and debris; shovel, plow, salt, sweep sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking areas as necessary.
• Display the U.S. flag during school hours on days when school is in session.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Ability to independently lift a minimum of 35 pounds; lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle equipment.
• Ability to stand/walk or sit/ride for prolonged periods; climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull and reach with arms.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with co‑workers and other staff members.

$50,000 - $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
