Job Summary

Houston County Board of Education – Warner Robins Middle School Position: Custodian (W. R. Maint. Dept.)
FLSA Status: Non‑exempt Reports To: Principal Starting Date: Immediately

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
• Cleans carpet, bathrooms, grounds, parking lots, windows, and AC/heating vents.
• Empties trash and garbage containers.
• Maintains building cleanliness.
• Sets up and takes down for school activities.
• Supplies and resupplies materials for restrooms.
• Changes light bulbs.
• Notifies principal regarding need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Cleans sand and debris from sidewalks.
• Monitors use and amount of supplies and orders supplies when necessary.
• Monitors/maintains limits on spending related to custodial budget.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

• High school education or GED preferred; one month related experience or training preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Work frequently outdoors in various weather conditions.

Noise level usually moderate.

Must be on time, meet attendance standards, conduct activities safely, and be willing to work flexible shifts.

Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $13.36 to $20.96 Per Hour
